Instant Winner keeps a Cool Head

Sixty-year-old Robert wood from Manatee County, Florida, had reason to celebtrate earlier this week when he bagged the $3 million top prize playing the Florida Lottery's "Gold Rush Trippler" instant win-type game.

Wood purchased his $20 ticket from the  Mail Station on  Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota. Store owner Tim Lowe was one of several people present when Wood scratched-off the ticket.

"He was pretty calm," Lowe recalled. "He was more calm than us."

The cool-headed winner chose to take his prize as a one-off lump-sum payment of $1.95 million, after state and federal taxes.

A Florida Lottery spokesperson said: "The winner said he didn't want any media attention and didn't pose for a photograph."
