Speaking in a recent interview with the Daily Telegraph, Camelot's chief executive Dianne Thompson suggested the UK National Lottery draws have probably produced more millionaires than it appears.
"Directly, we've made about 4,500 millionaires," Thompson said and then went on to say Camelot believes UK National Lottery prizes have probably made around 10,000 UK millionaires because big prize winners tend to share the money around.
But Thompson warns that winners should avoid making rash decisions.
"Don’t make any promises to start with," she said. "It’s all too easy to say 'I’ll give you some, I'll give you some, I'll give you some.' You need to take time and think about it."
Her final advice for new lottery winners came with a smile. "Enjoy it," she said, "Please enjoy it."
