Ireland's New Lotto Millionaires Choose to Remain Anonymous

Ireland's latest Lotto millionaires visited the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin on Friday and claimed their €12.1 million prize.

The prize was claimed by couple from County Donegal. The winners have opted to remain anonymous, but the lottery said the couple was "on cloud nine".

The couple purchased their jackpot-winning Quick Pick ticket from the American House newsagents and gift shop on Main Street in Bundoran, just hours before the Wednesday, June 4, 2014, draw.

The lottery rang store owner Brian McGovern at 06:00 the following morning to inform him his store had sold a winning ticket and McGovern was so delighted he rang his staff and asked them to come in early to help inflate the celebratory balloons and decorate the shop.

This isn't the first time the store has sold a major prize-winning ticket. Local man Frankie O’Gorman purchased a ticket that scooped him part of a shared jackpot in 1989.

Last Saturday's Irish Lotto drawing failed to produce any big winners. The largest prizes were claimed by the 29 third tier winners who matched 5 winning numbers to secure prizes of €2,197 each.

The next Irish Lotto drawing is on Tuesday, June 10, 2014. The Estimated jackpot is €2.5 million.

The next Euromillons drawing also takes place on Tuesday night and offers players the chance of richer pickings because the estimated jackpot is €118 million (£95 million).
