A golf fanatic from Aberdeenshire in Scotland is gradually getting back in the swing of things now he's had a few days to come to terms with a sudden influx of cash, courtesy of the Tuesday, May 27, Euromillions draw.
Small-business owner Brian Warrender, 55, won £136,065 for matching five numbers and one Lucky Star.
The win was doubly fortuitous because Warrender is not a regular Euromillions player and only bought his Lucky Dip ticket when he saw a poster in a Co-op store and noticed the jackpot was particularly large.
"I don't play EuroMillions regularly but when I saw the poster I thought I should take a chance and bought a couple of lucky dip tickets," Warrender said. He discovered the unplanned dip in his wallet was a winning decision when he turned on his TV, the morning after the draw, and checked the winning numbers.
"I didn't have my glasses on and at first I thought the 26 was a 28. I was over the moon when I realized it was actually a 26—my number," Warrender said.
Now he has a little extra cash sitting in the bank he hopes to indulge his golfing passion more often, but although a little extra clubbing may be on the agenda, he has no plans to be to extravagant or go overboard.
"I play club golf most weekends so the win will allow me to indulge in my hobby a little," Warrender said, "however, the main thing I will be doing with my win is putting it towards buying a house."
