California SuperLotto Plus players are no strangers to rollovers this year. There have been two each week since the $8 million jackpot was scooped on January 1, 2014. The long spree of rollovers ended at the weekend when a ticket purchased from the Safeway supermarket on Noriega St. in Sunset District, San Francisco, matched all five numbers and the Mega Number in the Saturday, May, 24, 2014, drawing and won the $70 million jackpot.
The winning numbers were 13, 11, 23, 27, and 29. The Mega Number was 10.
The lucky ticket holder has won the largest SuperLotto Plus jackpot since the February 7, 2009, drawing when someone's numbers did them proud and scooped them a $76 million prize.
If the winner chooses to take their winnings as a one-off, lump-sum payment instead of the $70 million annuity payments they will receive $40.9 million before state and federal taxes.
The Safeway supermarket will receive $350,000 for selling a winning ticket.
Two players who matched all five numbers, but failed to get the Mega Number on Saturday, will each receive $30,108. Twenty-four players will receive prizes of $1,254 for matching four numbers and the Mega Number, and a further 179,593 players will receive smaller prizes ranging from $1 to $82.
California SuperLotto Plus drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 19.57 (PDT). The next drawing is on Wednesday, May 28, and has an estimated jackpot of $7 million.
