Student Beats the Odds and Wins Major Prize

A student from Jamaica Plain, Boston, Massachusetts, beat odds of five million to one earlier this week when he spent $20 on a scratch-off ticket and made a quick $10 million.

Henok Lakew is the second person to win the Massachusetts Lottery's "Platinum Millions" top prize since the game was launched in 2013. He opted to take his prize as a one-off payment of $4.3 million.

Three more $10 million prizes remain, along with 24 $1 million prizes still remain to be won.

Meanwhile, the Massachusetts Megabucks Jackpot hasn't been won all year. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 23:20 (EDT).  The estimated jackpot for Wednesday, May 7, 2014 is $5.1 million.
