After three years of dedicated playing a lottery syndicate from Hampshire has finally been rewarded with a £1 million prize. The syndicate has just three members and each member will receive £333,333; so '3' would appear to be their lucky number.
Andy Wallace, 45; Terry Hunt, 41; and Alison Gruar, 35—who all work for a sailing holiday company—got their first big win in the Friday, February 28, drawing, but didn’t check their numbers until Monday morning when Hunt went online and discovered they were holding a winning EuroMillions Raffle ticket.
"We waited the longest seven minutes of our lives for the Lottery prize validation line to open at 9 a.m. on Monday morning," Wallace recalled. "We were literally willing the seconds and minutes to tick by to make sure what we hoped was true could be real. We just kept looking at each other not daring to believe it could be true."
Wallace now intends to splash out on a new Land Rover and Gruar is looking forward to relaxing the penny-pinching that has been necessary since her wedding in January. Hunt has never had any worries about his upcoming wedding, but he has a good use for his share of the winnings.
"We are planning our wedding at the moment," hunt said. "It’s already our dream wedding so we won’t change that, but this win opens up a whole world of possibilities for our honeymoon."
This Friday's EuroMillions draw is a Superdraw so the Jackpot has been increased to £80 million. The last Superdraw was Friday, November 15, 2013. The jackpot went to a player in Spain. Spanish players have also won four of this year's jackpots so many EuroMillions players are wondering if Spain will do it again on Friday.
