Surprise Lottery Funding For Foodbank

Falkirk Foodbank has received an unexpected Christmas bonus from the Big Lottery Fund Support and Connect Programme (funded by the UK National Lottery). The foodbank provides parcels of food to people who have fallen on hard times and might otherwise go hungry. In the last 12 months volunteers have delivered 3650 parcels of food, and project manager, Alf Collington, sees a growing need for their service.

The £73,209 surprise lottery funding should cover the food bank's day to day running costs for the next two years. "It's great news," Collington stated. "When we established the foodbank I could never have imagined how much demand there would be on our doorstep for food parcels."
