The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is holding a news conference today to release new details about a criminal investigation of a winning US Hot Lotto ticket purchased nearly four years ago.
The ticket, worth $14.3 million, was purchased at a Quick Trip convenience store in Iowa in December 2010, but the prize was not claimed until the a few hours before the deadline, when a New York attorney came forward stating he represented the winner.
When Iowa Lottery officials pressed him for further information the attorney refused to divulge his client's name and withdrew the claim.
The Iowa Attorney General's Office and the DCI have been conducting a criminal investigation ever since.
The News conference will take place at the Iowa Department of Public Safety’s headquarters in Des Moines at 13:00 (CDT).
