Myrtle Beach Man Claims Powerball Prize

In a recent announcement, the South Carolina Education Lottery said a man from Myrtle Beach has claimed a $2 million US Powerball prize form the drawing held on Wednesday, October 8, 2014.

The lucky winner has opted to remain anonymous, but lottery officials said he purchased his ticket from a local Kangaroo Express convenience store.

The man's ticket bore all five of the winning numbers, but he failed to match the Powerball. Had he done so he would have scooped the $70 million jackpot.

The prize for matching all five winning numbers drawn in a Powerball drawing is usually $1 million, but the man tossed in an extra dollar and added the Power Play option to his ticket. The Power Play number on the night in question was 2 so his prize was doubled.

Lottery officials said the man told them he plans to pay off his house and set up college funds for his kids. Then he headed back to work.
