The First WyoLotto Ticket will be Sold in Sheridan

The Wyoming Lottery has announced the winner or its Launch Day Giveaway competition. Over 27,000 entrants took part in the competition to choose who gets to buy the first WyoLotto ticket, and a drawing was held at the weekend to verify the entries and choose the winner, but the winner's name was not revealed until Monday.

Mary Ogg will purchase the first ticket at noon, on Sunday, August 24, at the Holiday Station on Brundage Road in Sheridan—her chosen retailer.

The sixty-seven-year-old grandmother rarely enters competitions and was not expecting to win. She entered the competition at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday just before she and her husband departed for Dayton. They returned at 2 p.m.

"I jokingly asked my husband if the light was blinking on the answering machine," Mary recalled. "He said yes it is. I said oh no. I pushed the button and heard a call at 1:15 p.m. and again at 1:20 p.m. and thought they really need me to call back. I hope that I am not too late."

She wasn't too late.

Mary chose to buy her ticket from the Holiday Station because she and her husband purchase most of their fuel there and she thought it 'made sense' to pick a store they regularly visit.

As well as winning the right to purchase the first WyoLotto ticket, Mary also won a year's supply of US Mega Millions tickets and a 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
