Ten Years of Dedication Pays off for Lotto-Loving Vancouver Couple

After a decade of dedicated playing an elderly couple from Nanaimo, Vancouver, finally won a major Canada BC49 Lotto prize earlier this month.

Barry and Janice Kroening successfully matched all six of the numbers drawn on Saturday, July 12, 2014, and scooped the CAD$ 2 million jackpot.

The B.C. Lottery Corporation announced the news on Tuesday.

The Kroenings discovered they were winners on July 14, when they picked up their morning paper and saw a front page article announcing there was a large unclaimed lottery prize won on a Nanaimo ticket.

"So we ran and got the ticket and we matched the ticket, and that was the beginning of a whole new Monday," Janice said.

The Kroenings, who are both in their sixties, have no immediate plans for the money, but Janice said they will probably do some traveling.
