A retired taxi driver from the Bronx picked up a big, check with $11.5 million written across it on Tuesday, August 12, 2014.
Leroy Beckford, 83, bought his winning New York Lottery quick pick ticket from his local 7 and 7 deli and now says he hasn’t got a care in the world. That may be so, but his face showed a noticeable lack of emotion during the prize-giving ceremony. His family said this was due to his shy nature.
The lucky winner presently shares an apartment with his daughter Michelle, who indicated he may be planning some big changes.
"He might go off and do his own thing. He said he might get a wife," Michelle said.
