The Signs were there, but he didn't See It

When an Australian Lotto player walked past his local newsagents last week, and saw a sign stating a ticket sold at the store had scooped a Division 1 win in the Saturday Lotto, the man thought 'wouldn't that be nice'. He never dreamed the sign might refer to his ticket, so he got quite a shock when the lottery rang and gave him the good news.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked. "Blimey, I’ve cracked the big one."

The man has opted to remain anonymous, but the lottery states he is 60-years-old and lives in the Australian Capital Territory. He was one of six players who matched the six winning numbers on Saturday, May 31, 2014.  The Division 1 prize that night was AUD$ 4.1. Each winner received AUD$ 687,000.

The man has no fixed plans for the money, but sees the win as a blessing.

"I know the prize money will remove some of my stress and I’ll take a much-needed holiday down the track," he said.
