Walt Plummer's ticket matched the five main numbers in the Friday, June 13, Mega Millions drawing. He purchased the ticket from his local 7-Eleven store, and returned on Wednesday, June 25, to receive his prize from Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto.
Plummer has had a few prior wins, but never more than a few dollars. He believed he'd won a similar amount until he had the store clerk check his ticket.
"Now don’t have a heart attack," the store clerk warned, and then told him he was the owner of a $1 million ticket.
