Lotto Returns to Tuatapere, New Zealand

Residents in the small town of Tuatapere in Southland, New Zealand, had cause to celebrate last week when Lotto tickets went on sale in the town for the first time in 19 years.

The town's former Lotto outlet, at the local service station, was removed in 1995. Since then purchasing a New Zealand Lotto ticket has necessitated a trip to the next town. All that changed on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, when Tuatapere Four Square supermarket owners Aaron and Lisa Challis began selling tickets in their store.

The couple decided to bring Lotto back to the town after comments placed in their suggestion box indicated it was what their customers wanted.

"We are really excited by the response of our Lotto," Aaron said. "The locals have grabbed it with both hands and we have already seen some small collects by our customers."
