A woman from Manitoba who won a Canada Lotto 649 prize of nearly CAD$7 million earlier this month said the win had an eerie resemblance to a dream she'd had the night before the draw.
Maria Digel said she dreamed she'd won CAD$ 1 million and shared it with her family, but never expected she would soon hold a ticket worth nearly seven times that amount.
Maria has been using the same set of numbers for the past 30 years and they have personal meaning to her because she based them on the date she immigrated to Canada, along with the ages of family members at the time.
Her lucky numbers are 7, 11, 12, 13, 35 and 41. They finally became winning numbers when they matched the Lotto 649 numbers drawn on June 4, 2014.
Remembering the day she was given the good news, Maria said: "I checked it [the ticket]with the girl at the lottery counter and she said, `You've won more than 6 million dollars.' I just felt numb."
Just as her dream predicted, Maria plans to share the money with her family.
"I live a simple life," she said. "I don't need a fancy apartment. I am happy."
Maria isn't the only player who has had an accurate premonition about winning some Lotto 649 loot.
Retiree Dorothy Lahola from Kamloop, British Columbia, had a similar experience in March when she woke up from a dream and heard herself shouting "I'm a winner! I'm a winner!"
One week later she won a guaranteed prize of CAD$ 1 million in the March 8, 2014 drawing.
