Hospital Lottery Syndicate Receives a Euromillions Pick-Me-Up

A Lottery syndicate from the University Hospital Waterford in County Waterford Ireland visited the National Lottery Ireland headquarters yesterday and claimed a €500,000 Euromillions prize.

The syndicate of nine, made up of nurses and clerical staff, has opted to remain anonymous, but told Lottery staff they have been playing together for five years.

The nine lucky ladies' numbers finally came up trumps on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, on a ticket purchased from Ardkeen Superstores on Dunmore Road in Waterford. Each winner will receive €55,555.55.

"To us it’s like winning a million each," one of the winners said. "I plan to save some and will take my little boy to Disneyland when he is older."
