New Yorker Claims Powerball Prize

A US Powerball winner from Westfield New York Claimed a $1 million second tier prize from the drawing held on April 9, 2014.

The New York Lottery announced the news on Tuesday.

Janice Cochran, 68, bought her lucky ticket from the County Fair Store on Main Street in Brocton, but had no idea she'd won until she went online and checked her ticket a few days later.

"I saw the name of the store first and thought, 'That’s where I bought my ticket;'" Cochran said.

When she looked a little closer she was shocked to discover her numbers lined up on the screen.

She is now considering using some of the money to fund a trip to Arizona.
