The Florida Lottery has suspended 11 retailers and removed lottery equipment from their stores.
The lottery announced the news earlier this week and said the suspensions would remain in place while it continues its investigation into possible fraudulent activity.
A lottery spokesperson said: "Recent research and analysis of lottery ticket sales and redemptions have prompted additional investigations into retailer establishments around the state. Those investigations have revealed suspicious ticket purchases and claims among some of our retailers."
Records show one retailer claimed five $1,000 prizes in a single day and he and his mother had claimed 47 $1,000 prizes in three years.
The odds of winning $1,000 in a scratch-off game are about 1 in 2,000.
