Retired University of Missouri employee Leon Schmidt, 70, got lucky with a Missouri Lottery "$5,000,000 Jackpot" scratch-off ticket he purchased from Midwest Petroleum on 1412 Range Line St, Columbia.
This is the second time the confirmed lotto-holic's addiction has paid off for him. He claimed a $10,000 prize a few years ago and just kept on playing.
"I play every day," Schmidt admitted to lottery officials. "I'm retired, and I play all around. I go to different stores, sometimes two or three in a day. I enjoy it, and it gives me something to do. I get tired of watching TV all day."
When asked if he had any plans for the money Schmidt said he would probably help his son and then added: "And I'll keep playing. I bought more tickets after I won."
