Speaking on
Monday, Deputy Iowa Attorney General, Thomas H. Miller, stated new information
has come to light about the winning lottery ticket at the center of the famous $7.5
million (US) Hot Lotto Mystery.
The mystery
began three years ago (Dec. 29, 2010), when a $7.5 million Hot Lotto ticket was drawn, but
remained unclaimed until a New York attorney came forward just before the deadline
expired. Lottery officials questioned
the authenticity of the claim and it was withdrawn, but the matter has not been
dropped, and Iowa Lottery Vice President, Mary Neubauer states, “It’s important
that we have systems in place to ensure the Lottery is protected against
whatever may have transpired or someone might attempt in the future.”
