The German
Lotto and Toto Block (DLTB) are strongly opposing the proposed creation of a
new German national lottery operator, the Deutsche SportLotterie (German Sport
Lottery), designed to provide funding for Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The DLTB
believe the creation of an organization like the SportLotterie would result in a
reduction in revenue that could interfere with their ability to fund amateur
and professional German sports. The DLTB also point out that the proposed SportLotterie
will only provide financial assistance to professional athletes and events, and
that this could result in many amateur players and venues being left without
much-needed funding.
