In a statement released on Thursday, the Missouri Lottery said a man from Kansas won a $1 million prize while visiting a friend in Missouri.
Thirty-two-year-old Gilberto Andrade was visiting Christina Aguilar in O'Fallon, Missouri, on October 30, when they decided to take a trip to the neighboring town of St. Peters. While they were in town they popped into a Schnucks supermarket and purchased a few lottery tickets.
Andrade opted for one of the Missouri Lottery's "$1,000,000 Platinum Payout" scratch-off tickets, but didn't get around to scratching off the tickets top coating until later that night after he'd returned to Garden City, Kansas.
On November 5 Andrade made the 580 mile trip to visit his friend again, but instead of visiting St. Peters they visited the Missouri Lottery, where Andrade split the prize with Aguilar. They each received a lump-sum payment of $350,000, before taxes.
