The Hoosier Lottery celebrates its 25th anniversary on Monday. Since it was launched in 1989, the lottery has generated over $4 billion for good causes and paid out more than $9.4 billion in prizes, but it doesn't end there. Over $521.3 million has been funneled into pension schemes for members of the Indiana police and fire services. Over $707.6 million has been pumped into the Teachers' Retirement Fund, and lottery revenue has also been used to reduce motor vehicle excise tax, via the Build Indiana Fund.
Hoosier Lottery Executive Director Sarah Taylor said: "The Hoosier Lottery's 25th anniversary is a milestone that all of us should be proud of."
