Winning is a family affair for three siblings from Johnston, Des Moines.
Stephen Bevis, 61; Craig Bevis, 59; and their sister Marsha, 55, visited the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Des Moines on Monday and claimed a $1 million US Mega Millions prize.
The lotto-loving trio has been playing the lottery together for two years and finally got lucky when one of their tickets matched the five Mega Millions numbers drawn on Friday, August 1, 2014. If they'd successfully matched the Mega Ball as well they would have scooped the $87 million jackpot.
When asked about their plans for the money they said they intend to use it to help finance their retirements.
After taxes they each netted more than $233,000.
