Mega Millions Win Causes Problems for South Carolina Man

A man from Summerville, Cane Bay, visited the South Carolina Education Lottery on Monday, claimed a $1 million US Mega Millions prize, and admitted the win had already caused him some problems at home.

The anonymous winner matched the five main numbers drawn on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, but didn't claim the prize straight away because he wanted to take some time and think about the best use for his lottery windfall.

Taking a level-headed approach to the win, he decided to pay some bills and then invest the rest of the money.

"I was raised to save money and buy the things you need," the man said.

Unfortunately for the wise winner, the decision angered his wife, who feels they should have some fun with the money instead.

"I wasn’t planning on buying anything," he said.
