A woman
from Taylors, South Carolina, was a little surprised last Friday when her
husband handed her a newspaper clipping about an unclaimed $1 million (US) Powerball
prize. She got an even bigger surprise when he handed her the winning ticket.
"We
won the Lottery," he told her. She didn't believe him, but it was true.
The ticket he handed her matched all five of the numbers drawn on Wednesday,
July 16, 2014. Only the Powerball was missing. If he'd matched that as well he
would have scooped the $50 million jackpot.
The couple,
who wish to remain anonymous, has no plans for any mad spending sprees, but
admitted a celebratory meal was on the cards.
"We're
having lunch at McDonalds," the husband said.
"We
might splurge and try something that's not on the dollar menu," his wife
confirmed.
