Carl Peterson III from Middleborough, Massachusetts, was in good cheer last week when he bagged a $1 million prize playing the Massachusetts State Lottery's new instant win "$4,000,000 Gold Bullion" game.
Peterson claimed his prize on July 7, and chose to take his winnings as a one-time lump-sum payment of $466,000, after taxes. When asked about his plans for the money Peterson said his first purchase would likely be a new car.
Peterson is the first person to win the $1 million second prize available in the new game. Fourteen more remain, along with five top prizes of $4 million.
