Jackpot Dream Comes True for Florida Lotto Player

The woman who won $47 million Florida Lotto jackpot on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, claimed her prize this week and told Florida Lottery officials she's bought her winning ticket after she woke up from a dream about scooping the jackpot.

Hollywood resident Germana Sodre, 47, purchased her ticket from the Stop 'n' Shop food store on Taft Street. She then placed it in her purse, forgot about it for over a week, and never realized her dream had become a reality until Friday, May 20, 2014, when went online and checked the winning numbers.

Sodre told Florida Lottery officials: "I couldn't believe what I saw so I called my husband and had him check them as well. I was so excited when he confirmed that all the numbers matched, and I haven't been able to sleep since."

Sodre opted to take her winnings as a one-off lump-sum payment of $30,863,975.

Florida Lotto drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturday's at 23:15 (Eastern Time). In order to win the jackpot players must match all six numbers drawn. Sodre is the last person to achieve this and a third rollover on Saturday night succeeded in pushing the jackpot up a little higher so Florida Lotto players have an estimated Jackpot of $5 million to play for on Wednesday, May 4, 2014.

The next US Powerball drawing will also take place on Wednesday and Powerball players have an even larger prize to dream about because the present estimated jackpot is an incredible $192 million.
