Posh Club Gets Lottery Funding

A posh club for pensioners in Crawley, West Sussex, has been awarded £39,000 per year in funding from the UK National Lottery's Big Lottery fund.

The "Posh Club" spices up its members lives by providing them with sophisticated afternoon teas, champagne, and variety acts. The club boasts over 80 members and holds weekly get-togethers at St Mary's Church Hall, Southgate, on Monday evenings. In keeping with the swanky theme of the club, members must don their most elegant clothes and the club even arranges optional pre-event hair dressing sessions.

Social isolation has proved to be a big problem for many of Crawley's older residents and the Posh Club, formerly called "The Tuesday Club", has been a big hit with all involved.
