A man from Mount Gambier, South Australia, got a AUD$1.3 million birthday surprise when the Quick Pick Lotto ticket his mother gave him as a gift produced a first division win in the Australia Lotto drawing on Saturday, April 26, 2014.
The winner has chosen to remain anonymous, but he told lottery officials: "I'll admit, I cried yesterday when I checked my ticket, I can hardly believe it. My Mum was so happy when I told her."
The man's mother bought the ticket from Rosaville Takeaway and Lotteries. Store owner Malcolm Domaschenz was thrilled to hear the news.
"In the five years I've owned the shop, this is the seventh major prize we've sold across Lotto and Instant Scratch-Its," Domaschenz said.
