Twenty-two people in Westmoreland, Jamaica, have been arrested for lottery scamming.
The arrests were made on Sunday, May 11, 2014, at 05:00, when members of the Jamaican Anti Lottery Scam Task Force and local law enforcement officers carried out simultaneous raids in the Westmoreland communities of Cornwall Mountain, Belvedere, Petersfield, and Lambs River.
Computers, tablets, and cellular phones were seized along with a quantity of lead-lists containing the details of potential victims, most of which were elderly US citizens.
The police have issued a warning to lottery scam artists, stating they will take a zero tolerance approach to any breaches of the Law Reform Act.
