Along with their partners, the Hauraki Regimental Association and the WW100 Tauranga, the Tauranga Heritage Collection plans to exhibit First World War objects alongside the stories that relate to them.
The exhibition consists of two customized shipping containers that provide a strong, portable means of housing the artifacts and can be configured in different ways to provide visitors with and interesting viewing experience.
Tauranga City Council's cultural heritage manager Dean Flavell said: "These mobile and interactive exhibitions will be transported to a variety of locations around Tauranga, including schools, marae [traditional Māori tribal meeting places], rest-homes, the city center, and RSAs."
Flavell believes the new exhibition will give people the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the impact the First World War had on a local, national, and global scale.
