A syndicate of 11 employees from the Home Hardware Department at the Sunnycrest Mall, Gibsons, British Columbia, successfully matched four numbers in the January 11, (Canada) Lotto Max Extra draw.
The workers, who have been pooling their money for four years, finally proved that persistence can sometimes pay off when their chosen numbers added up to a $500,000 win. Each syndicate member will received $45,455.
The responsibility for checking the numbers fell to syndicate member, Fred Schultz. When he pulled up the results on a computer in the store, his smile said it all, and the group knew they had finally won.
