Construction Worker Gets Mega Millions Surprise

A construction worker from Mesa, Arizona, won a second-place (US) Mega Millions prize of $1 million after buying $100 worth of tickets to hand out to family and friends.

Audel Acevedo has been giving out lottery tickets at Christmas for the past three years, but when half his guest failed to turn up he had more tickets than he needed, so Acevedo kept the extra tickets. After the holiday period was over he returned to the store he'd bought them from, had the tickets checked, and was told to go to the local lottery office to pick up a prize. Acevedo rushed over to the office, and couldn't believe his luck when a lottery representative told him, "You've won a million bucks."
