A UK
parliamentary committee has recommended that residents of Britain's overseas territories
be allowed to play the National Lottery.
If the
proposal is approved it will permit residents in the Cayman Islands and other
British territories to participate in
UK National Lottery games via traditional in-store terminals as well as online.
Introducing
the lottery in the Cayman Islands will not be without difficulties because the
present laws on the island prohibit gambling. If the laws can be changed the
chance of sizable lottery wins on the island would not be the only benefit. The islands would also be eligible for National Lottery grants.
