Australian Man Wins New Zealand Lotto

A visitor to New Zealand bagged a $1 million First Division lottery win at the weekend.

The man, who is believed to be Australian, purchased his ticket from the Motorway Dairy & Lotto in Otahuhu, and returned there to check his tickets the morning after the draw.

Rakesh Patel, who co-owns the establishment, said the winner sent his cousin in to check the ticket at 10 am, and then came in himself, ten minutes later, to check it again.

Patel described the winner as being a "very gentle" man who had offered to buy him a gift when he found out he had won.
